WIL’s association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) dates back to early 70s. WIL successfully developed indigenously critical manufacturing technologies for Aerospace Components – Rocket Motors. WIL has actively participated in manufacture of booster motor casings and nozzles for the ISRO space programs commencing from SLV-3, ASLV to PSLV & GSLV programs. Equipment manufactured by WIL, have been successfully used in the launching of ‘ROHINI’, ‘SROSS’, ‘IRS’, ‘G-SAT’ and other satellites. WIL takes pride being a contributor of key critical equipment in India’s maiden mission to moon i.e. “Chandrayan I”. WIL has been a significant contributor in India’s successful Mission to Mars i.e. Mangalyaan.
Walchandnagar industries limited (WIL) manufactures and supplies high speed, low speed, planetary as well as marine gear boxes. WIL has supplied gearboxes based on Design Standards like ISO 6336, DIN 3990, API-613, AGMA 6011/H98, ABS, LRS & IRS with double as well as single helical tooth design across various industries. WIL has absorbed Gear technology from the world renowned MAAG Gears AG Zurich with whom we had Technical Collaboration spanning more than two decades. The design philosophy, manufacturing procedures, precision machinery and heat treatment equipment were acquired from their works at Switzerland. Today the Gear division has a full fledged in house design and engineering set up coupled with manufacturing infrastructure. It has also put in place an independent quality control system. Its facilities meet stringent technical requirement and boasts of having German Hofler Rapid 2600 grinding machine, one among very few in the country. The machine is capable of grinding gears to DIN-1 quality standard. Over the last 45 years our Gear division has supplied and serviced Sugar, Cement, Steel, Paper, Hydroelectric, Fertilizer and Petro-chemical industry along with power sector. It has also made forays in Defence sector by providing Main Propulsion Gear boxes for Indian Navy. It is closely associated with design, manufacture and supply of Gear Boxes for various programs of Indian Navy for Leander class Frigates, Fleet tankers, Nuclear Powered Submarines, Anti Submarine Warfare Corvettes etc. with powers up to 24000 hp.
